Nailed it  의미 : 완벽하게 잘 해냈다 (did something successfully) 못을 완벽하게 박다. 라는 느낌에서 온 말

Set the tone 의미 : 분위기를 조성하다, 기준을 세우다, 본을 보이다 tone: 어조, 분위기 어떤 톤을 가질지 결정한다 -> 분위기를 조성 + 기준과 모범을 세운다 *set the mood: '분위기'에 초점

Go without saying 의미 : 말하지 않고도 통한다. 즉, 명백하다. 자명한 사실이다, 너무 분명해서 말할 필요도 없다.  Of course. + It goes without saying.  친구가 도움 요청했을 때, 물론이지. 당연히 도와야지 이런식으로 많이 쓰임

B : Okay, I'm sorry. I was fixated on this tissue paper. I will be there.

Lose someone   대화 도중 "Did I lose you?"(내 말 들려?) 라고 물어볼 수 있는 상황 1) 통화 등이 끊겨서 물리적으로 안들릴 때 2) 듣긴 들었지만 이해를 못했을 경우 Slammed 일이 감당하기 힘들 정도로 많아서 매우 바쁜 Fixated on fix: 고정시키다 fixated on: 무언가에 초집중(또는 집착)해서 다른 건 안중에 없는 상태 집중 + 집착 (또는 그 중간쯤에 있는 말) focused + obsessed

A : The truth is... Something about you makes me feel calm or more centered or something and I-I could use that. Obviously. I hope you'll accept my apology and come back to work for me. If you want. Oh, God, I can't tell you how much I hate that I jumped the gun and I made you feel...

B : I'm coming back. I'm happy to come back.

A : Excellent.

Could use '~가 있으면 좋겠다', '~하고싶다' (would like, need, want를 간접적으로 말한 표현) 직역: 뭐 있으면 내가 쓸 수 있겠네 실제: 있으면 좋겠다 엄청 흔하고 유용한 표현! 그냥 want 보다는 좀 더 '~했으면 좋겠다.' 이런 느낌으로 돌려 말하고 싶다면 could use Jump the gun 섣불리 경솔하게 행동하다.

A : Okay, you're not gonna want to hear this, but I heard / women who sleep / less than seven hours a night / gain 38% more weight than / women who sleep / more than seven hours a night.

B : What?

A : Let's get through this stuff. Let's do it together. Let's clean-slate it.

Clean slate "백지상태" : 깨끗한 과거 이력 즉, 범죄기록이나 오점 등이 없는 깨끗한 상태 명사이지만 동사로도 사용, 여기서는 '말끔히 해결해버리자', '깨끗히 치워버리자' 라는 동사로 사용

A : Well, we just found out he's beyond interested. (그가 관심이 굉장히 많다는 걸 알게 됐어)

B : Exciting.

A : Yeah. Maybe. Everyone's flipping out about it, but you know I'm still on the fence at best.

Flip out flip 기본 뜻: 홱 뒤짚다 (돌고래 생각) 1) 흥분하다 / 열광하다 2) 매우 화가 나다 3) 엄청 놀라다 out 없이도 같은 뜻으로 쓰임 On the fence 아직 결정을 못 한 상태 = I'm undecided. = I'm not sure, yet. at best: 최대한 양보를 해봐도 still on the fence: 아직 중립적인 입장이다.

1. put someone up - 일시적으로 누군가를 자기 집에 묵게 해주다.

• I'm gonna put you up for a few weeks. 몇 주동안 우리집에서 지내게 해주지
• Ben's been putting me up 벤이 (집 구할때 까지) 지내게 해줬어요.

2. Be there or be square. - '꼭 와!'
